The job these do
A folding tote lives in a handbag, a glovebox or a coat pocket and unfolds when someone needs a bag they did not plan for. That makes it the highest-utility giveaway in promotional products for a retail or grocery audience, because it solves the actual problem people have: the reusable bag they own is at home.
How they fold
- Into an attached pouch, which is the most reliable because the pouch cannot be lost.
- Into a pocket on the bag itself, which folds flatter.
- Into a snap or strap band, the fastest to deploy and the least compact.
The honest limitation
Folding totes are lightweight by definition, and lightweight means limited load. Ripstop nylon and thin RPET fold small because there is not much fabric, and the same property limits what the bag will carry before the seams complain. These are shopping bags for soft goods and light shopping, not for cases of water. Nobody refolds them as neatly as they arrived either, which is worth knowing before you build a campaign around the folded form.
Printing on a folding bag
The imprint area is on the main panel, not the pouch, unless the style specifically offers pouch decoration. Ask if you want the logo visible while the bag is folded, because that is usually where it does the most work.
